Letter to Theodore Dwight Woolsey and related papers, 1876-1877.

ALS dated 1877 Jul 3, from Gilman, Secretary of the American Bible Society, to Theodore Dwight Woolsey regarding the controversy surrounding the correct Chinese word to use for God. With his letter to Woolsey Gilman enclosed several letters and copies of letters and writings relating to the controversy written by representatives of the American Bible Society, the British Foreign Bible Society, and the Religious Tract Society, including Gilman, John Van Nest Talmage, N. Blodgett, D. E. Eitel, John Shaw Burdon, Lewis Borrett White, and William Wright.
